Prague After Dark

The cobblestones of Charles Bridge were still slick from the cold November rain as evening settled over Prague. Mist softened the Gothic skyline, and the last traces of daylight faded across the Vltava while the warm lights of the castle shimmered on the dark water below. Stone saints lined the bridge, their silhouettes emerging through the haze as I made my way toward Old Town.

On the other side, Prague seemed to grow more mysterious with every turn. Lantern light flickered across rain-darkened streets as I wandered beneath Gothic rooftops and through narrow passageways, peeking into tucked-away bars and cafés along the way. Somewhere among those winding streets, the unmistakable green glow of absinthe beckoned.

Eventually, I found a cozy outdoor café and settled in with a glass, wrapped in a blanket against the cold. Nearby, embers glowed and woodsmoke drifted through the damp night air. There was something almost otherworldly about Prague after dark — the mist, the ancient stone, the absinthe glowing emerald in the low light. For a little while, it felt as though the modern city had disappeared entirely and I had wandered into another time.
